TEC Cymru’s work with partners in CWTCH Gwent, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and Digital Health Ecosystem Wales on producing a step-by-step guide for using video consultations in mental health services has been published in the latest BJPsych Journal.
The development of this brand new guide includes steps on how to set up and implement consultations in real-time practice. The paper described the set-up process of two real-time NHS Wales examples of new video consulting service, including:
- A local service in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, CWTCH Gwent
- A national service across the whole of NHS Wales, the NHS Wales Video Consulting Service
The NHS Wales Video Consulting Service was delivered as part of the response to the coronavirus pandemic in Wales.
The guide provides a simple visual step-by-step guide for using telepsychiatry via the remote use of video consultations in mental health services, and outlines the mandatory steps to achieving a safe, successful and sustainable use of video consultations in the NHS by ensuring that video consultations fit into existing and new NHS workflow systems and adhere to legal and ethical guidelines.
We would like thank the individuals who have contributed to this paper including colleagues from CWTCH Gwent, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and Digital Health Ecosystem Wales.
