Why should you attend?

Fran Beadle from the NHS Wales Informatics Service (NWIS) will be talking about the e-Nursing project, transforming nursing to create a digital way of working. The project, working across NWIS and all Health Boards, will produce digital nursing documents that follow a patient through their healthcare journey. This requires using the same standardised nursing language, reducing duplication and improving patient care. Fran will cover about how they are evaluating multiple concurrent pilots.

We will be reporting back on a Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) pilot at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital that will be completed in September. Passive tags were placed on bladder scanners, wheelchairs and beds throughout the hospital, providing staff with real time information on where equipment will be.

In May DHEW and Health Technology Wales ran a workshop reviewing the Evidence Standards Framework for Digital Healthcare Technologies released last year by NICE in England. We looked at the issues and barriers to adopting these standards in Wales. As a result of this event a working group has been set up to get the ball rolling with the adoption of these standards in Wales. We will update on the standards and how they can make it easier to understand what good evidence looks like.
