As a result of its rapid rollout of the NHS Wales Video Consulting (VC) Service, TEC Cymru has been shortlisted for the Telehealth Award in the 2021 Health Business Awards.
Supported by Health Business magazine, the National Health Business Awards are awarded to organisations and teams that demonstrate innovation and excellence within the NHS.
The 17 award categories include facilities, technology, human resources, hospital management and transport as well as the Outstanding Achievement in Healthcare award. The Telehealth award is given in recognition of the organisation that demonstrates the most innovative use of use of information and communication technology to deliver health services, expertise and information over distance.
Commenting on the accolade, Sara Khalil, TEC Cymru’s Programme Lead said:
“TEC Cymru is delighted to be shortlisted for the Telehealth award.
“Our journey of rolling out the VC Service started in March 2020 and since then we’ve seen the Service grow and become part of business as usual. On average we see around 3,000 remote video appointments taking place across health and social care in Wales per week. With over 260,000 remote consultations having taken place since we started.
“VC continues to provide demonstrable benefits to patients and healthcare professionals and is one of the three core programme areas for TEC Cymru.”
The awards will be announced on 9 December 2021 and presented by Dr Mark Porter MBE.
