TEC Cymru Portfolio Studies

Working from Home (WFH) Study
  • This study was initiated to analyse the pros & cons of WFH in the NHS and social care.
  • It has developed Welsh recommendations for a dynamic workforce in Wales based on an ‘ideal workforce’ virtual workshop (21 groups / 138 people).
  • The next steps for this study include potential journal submissions and dissemination of findings to stakeholders and policymakers
TEC Model: Digital Compatibility
  • A study is planned to design the new TEC Cymru Digital Compatibility Model using machine learning (AI), to predict digital uptake - when clinical versus patient compatibility can best suit each other (and why).
  • The TEC Model will be designed in collaboration with Cardiff University as part of a Cardiff University School of Mathematics PhD Student Project, who started with TEC Cymru in Oct 21.
Time & Motion Study
  • The R&E team are initiating an observational time & motion study to start in March 22.
  • This will involve stopwatch analysis on TEC (VC and other), Face To Face & Telephone.
  • Currently identifying clinical teams, leads and sites to help with study on an all-Wales basis
Bevan Commission Exemplar (BCE)
  • This project is currently being explored in BCE called TEC-Plus which will increase digital skills and improve clinical decision making
  • This will be achieved by developing and testing a package that will include training modules, speciality specific toolkits, guidelines, support and more
  • The intention is that TEC-Plus will contribute to the reduction of waiting times and improve patient care
TERMS School Study
  • Since the pandemic, NHS Wales eating disorder and weight management services have reported a significant rise in clinical needs, resources, referrals and waiting lists.
  • TEC Cymru’s proposed research, linked up with Q-Lab, will investigate how we might design and deliver a timely, efficient, and pupil-centred remote monitoring service in secondary schools to help support and manage disordered eating.
  • Term's Journal December Edition
Nurses and Digital Attitudes Study
  • TEC Cymru are conducting a series of focus groups, surveys and interviews with nurses across Wales
  • We will be including a wide range of nursing experience and roles to discuss digital nursing, scoping out challenges and fears which to help identify possible solutions and gaps
A Day in the Life of...
  • During the pandemic, much of TEC Cymru data was retrospective feedback from participant’s experiencing a TEC-based service. However, the data is generally one-sided and therefore, can only tell us part of the story.
  • The aim of the ‘day in the life of’ series is to experience a ‘day’ of TEC Cymru participants first hand, in order to provide a real-life picture of their life, and how technology enabled care can really have an impact.
