Since implementation of CWTCH, there have successful telehealth appointments between paediatric wards in Nevill Hall Hospital and Royal Gwent Hospital.
The original CWTCH remit was to link up paediatric wards and CAMHS Emergency Liaison Team. Since implementation of CWTCH, there have been four successful telehealth appointment between paediatric wards in Nevill Hall Hospital and Royal Gwent Hospital.
Due to high-risk patients presenting in paediatric ward settings, telehealth has been identified as less of a beneficial service for many very high-risk patients such as those who have been admitted for self-harm.
However, telehealth is demonstrating a benefit for patients such as those presenting with an eating disorder, and for early introductions from Emergency CAMHS services, such as to provide an immediate care plan to the ward in between time of arrival of a team member in-person. In addition, telehealth has proven useful for staff interaction between paediatric ward and CAMHS staff, such as with dieticians.
